BOP Ground Transportation Device
![]()
For drilling rigs with lower derrick floors, the limited clearance height of the derrick floor makes it impossible to install overhead BOP hoisting and moving systems. To solve the challenge of installing BOP on such rigs, a BOP ground transportation device has been designed and developed.
This device uses a flatcar to move the entire BOP stack along a track from the rig entrance to the vertical lifting position above the wellhead. First, assemble the spool, double ram BOP and annular BOP together on the flatcar at the rig entrance, and then use hydraulic cylinders to push the BOP stack to the rear of the wellhead area. After completing the first drilling phase, push the BOP stack to the wellhead. Lifting the BOP stack vertically using the rig’ s hook, then remove the flatcar and the track spanning the wellhead, and then secure the BOP stack onto the adapter flange at the wellhead to complete the installation.
